We’re here to improve equality of access to italk. We do this by engaging with our community to understand barriers to accessing support, and then working to remove those barriers.
For some people the barrier is simply not being aware that italk is here, or how to know when to contact us, so part of our work is going out to raise awareness. For others there will be things we need to change within italk to help make it easier for people to use our service, so we aim to find out what those things are, and work with our colleagues to address them.
We cover the whole of Hampshire except Portsmouth, Southampton and Farnborough. When we work with local communities, each Outreach Coordinator has their own particular patch, which are roughly North, Central & East, South and West Hampshire. But you can contact any of us, and we’ll introduce you to your local Outreach Coordinator if needed.
To get started we’ve identified 5 groups that are particularly underrepresented in our referrals to be our initial focus. These are people aged over 65, BAME communities (particularly Black & Black British, Asian & Asian British), LGBTQ+ communities, particularly those who identify as transgender or non-binary, disabled people and veterans.
We’ll be doing frequent blogs to keep you updated on our projects and informed on opportunities to get involved.
We’re also expanding our team, so if you’re interested in community engagement or equality & diversity have a look at our job vacancies page:

Hope you’re having a lovely summer!
